EthosEnergy and Raban Al-Safina Group sign joint venture agreement in Iraq

EthosEnergy and Raban Al-Safina Group (RAS) have today signed a joint venture (JV) agreement in Iraq, with construction underway of a new purpose-built facility close to Baghdad.

Establishing a permanent, local base in Iraq enables the JV partners to deliver specialist rotating equipment solutions to local and regional customers and projects. The JV will support the development of in-country expertise and execution of work, creating local jobs and establishing grid stability and security.

Phase 1 of construction at the site is underway with a service centre containing calibration labs and gas turbine component repair and refurbishment capabilities.

The workshop will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art technologies to repair critical gas turbine parts, meeting the latest industry standards. It has been designed with the further potential to overhaul and repair industrial gas and steam turbine rotors.

Mr Hussein Saihood, Executive Vice President of RAS Group, said, “We are proud to be bringing the first gas turbine component repair facility to Iraq, demonstrating our deep commitment to these extremely important power generation and oil and gas markets.

“The formation of this JV with EthosEnergy allows us to partner their engineering expertise with our decades of experience working in the toughest environments to deliver projects with maximum customer value and impact. This partnership will strengthen our ability to deliver safe, sustainable, and stable power to the Iraqi national grid.”

Mario Cincotta, Executive Vice President of East Hemisphere at EthosEnergy, said, “The signing of this JV agreement and construction of the new facility underpins our commitment to delivering growth in the region. Our aim is to make energy affordable, available, and sustainable for everyone everywhere.

“The new repair facility will offer advanced technological solutions where they are needed most, close to our customers. This initiative not only enhances service quality, but also fosters the development of a local workforce, benefiting local communities and creating lasting value.

“RAS Group’s capabilities in the industry make them an ideal strategic partner for us to rapidly deliver optimisation solutions that solve customer challenges and turn potential into performance.”

The service center is currently recruiting graduate engineers and technicians who will be connected with EthosEnergy’s extensive network of technical and engineering experts.
